I have attempted to show the vast expanse of the Namib Desert. It is often said that you should fill the frame with the subject. I do not always agree with the rules but in this case, I have filled the image with the main subject - emptyness.
The Lonely Oryx - taken in Namibia although the Oryx was added later. This has been quite successful for me.
Figures in the Dunes - Taken in Namibia and probably my most sucessful picture. It has won about 8 or 9 gold medals, including Sydney Internation Salon and an exhibition in New York.
Early Morning Rwanda - We camped by the side of the road and this was the view to greet me, when I first opened my tent in the morning. There were a lot of Chinese in Rwanda, at the time, building roads. Whilst we were having breakfast, a car full of them stopped and they got out to take our photo!
Dunescape - taken in Namibia. The lines of the dunes intrigued me and I felt that they looked like a female form. I have sinced emphasised this by cloning in a female form. I might include this picture on this site at a later date.
Lone Tree - in the Namibian Dunes
African Tree at Sunset
Impression of the Namib Desert - an even more empasis of the vastness of the desert.
Quiver Tree, Namibia
Dune Patterns, Namibia
Sombre Dunes, Namibia
Sand Dunes, Namibia
Skeleton Coast, Namibia - this use to be a very remote, inaccessible area on the West coast of Africa in a desert region. The seas were very rough and many ships were grounded here with very little chance of rescue. Many seamen died here, hence the name. Don't worry though, the skeleton is that of a seal.
